Our first interview is with Healthi Coach Kerri!

Healthi: First, please introduce yourself! Tell us a little bit about you and the Healthi plan you chose.

Kerri: Hello everyone! Coach Kerri here! I am married and have a 6 year old little boy. I am a CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) and I currently work from home. I have been on many of the different plans, but at this time I am doing the Healthi Keeping Keto plan.

Healthi: What motivated you to start your weight loss journey?

Kerri: I have Fibromyalgia and keto is the only thing that seems to help with a lot of those symptoms. I also have a terrible relationship with food so keto allows a lot more freedom with that.

Healthi: Have you tried losing weight before? If so, what worked for you and what didn’t work?

Kerri: I have tried other diets in the past. I tried slim fast in high school which just made me mean hungry all the time. After I got married I got on and ordered 21 Day Fix by Beachbody and I was determined it wouldn’t be a waste of money. I had amazing success with that but then we started trying to have kids so I slacked off. Then I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and saw the benefits of keto and gave it a go. I did great and lost a ton of weight. The neurologist decided I didn’t need to be on keto and she took me off and it’s been pure torture. I decided I had enough and that I was going back to what I knew worked. My body thrives on keto.

Healthi: What are your favorite healthy foods, and how do you incorporate them into your diet?

Kerri: We love asparagus and broccoli at our house. We also keep lots of fresh fruit year round. We will be doing another garden this year to supply us with lots of veggies and fruit.

Healthi: How do you stay motivated to continue your weight loss journey?

Kerri: I HAVE to stay on this plan for my health, but I LOVE the feeling of the pounds dropping, the way my clothes are fitting, brain fog is much better, pain is going down and that feeling is just pushing me to keep going.

Healthi: Have you incorporated exercise into your weight loss plan? If so, what types of exercise do you enjoy?

Kerri: I do get in some movement most days. I usually do most of my workouts from youtube videos. I enjoy doing Caroline Girvan weight lifting videos and blogilates videos. I recently just found the studio dance walk that is a lot of fun. When it is warm and pretty I like to walk and ride my bike.

Healthi: What do you think are the biggest obstacles to losing weight, and how do you plan to overcome them?

Kerri: For me, my biggest obstacle was sugar. After coming off keto the first time is when I began to have an unhealthy relationship with food. I gained so much and could not get enough of it. Finally getting back to keto has killed that craving.

Healthi: How do you plan to maintain your weight loss once you reach your goal?

Kerri: Once I reach my goal weight I plan to up my carbs just a bit to be able to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables but continue with no sugar or processed foods.

Healthi: What’s your favorite guilty pleasure food that you can’t resist, and how do you balance it with your healthy eating habits?

Kerri: When starting back on Keeping Keto I would definitely say sweets like cake, but now I crave other types of food like a hamburger. When I do get the occasional need for sweets I stick with choc zero chocolate or a keto cheesecake. Moderation is key.

Healthi: What’s the most creative way you’ve found to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet?

Kerri: Hiding veggies in other foods!. Like with spaghetti, I will add minced carrots into the spaghetti sauce. The carrots cancel out the acidity of the tomatoes and the kiddo never knows the difference. I also add peppers, onions, tomates, and mushrooms in the spaghetti so that it’s packed full of veggies. If you throw it on zoodles it takes it up even another notch.

Healthi: What’s your favorite way to celebrate a weight loss milestone, and why?

Kerri: I celebrate with a dance! Lol it keeps things light. I also go shopping for new clothes!
