Hey there, Healthi heroes, Coach Ashley here! As the holiday season unfolds, it brings a journey filled with gatherings, tempting treats, and the joy of celebration. Navigating wellness and weight loss during this time can seem challenging. But don’t worry, I’ve crafted a guide that brings you the do’s and don’ts to keep you on track while enjoying all the wonderful things this holiday season has to offer. I write this in hopes that it brings you actionable tips and a plan that empowers you to savor the season without compromising on your goals. Here’s to a holiday filled with health, happiness, and success on your wellness journey!

The Do’s and Don’ts for a Healthi Holiday

The Don’ts for a Healthi Holiday:
  • Mindless Snacking: Don’t mindlessly munch on snacks. Be conscious of your choices, and make your choices wisely. Pick things that you don’t often get throughout the rest of the year.
  • Skipping Meals: Don’t skip meals to “save up” for a big event. This can lead to being over-hungry and overeating later. Instead, start your day with a nourishing breakfast or brunch.
  • Unlimited Indulgence: Don’t indulge without limits. Set boundaries on your portion sizes and be selective about the treats you enjoy. Again, pick the treats you may not usually get during other times of the year– like a small slice of that yummy pecan pie!
  • Neglecting Self-Care: Don’t forget to prioritize yourself. The holidays can be stressful, so take time for some self-care– relaxation, deep breaths, and activities you enjoy.
  • Isolation: Don’t isolate yourself. Share your journey with supportive friends and family. Connection and encouragement are essential during the holidays. This time of year is about being around the ones that mean the most to you. So make the most of this time and enjoy it with loved ones.
  • Rigid Restrictions: Don’t impose strict restrictions on yourself. Allow flexibility and balance in your approach to wellness. Enjoy the season without guilt.

The Do’s for a Healthi Holiday:
  • Mindful Munching: Do savor your favorite holiday treats mindfully. Take your time, enjoy each bite, and be present in the moment.
  • Hydration Station: Do stay hydrated. Water not only supports your overall well-being but can also help control hunger and prevent overeating of all those delicious meals and treats.
  • Strategic Planning: Do plan your meals and treats in advance. Set boundaries and choose your indulgences wisely. It’s a great idea to pre-track as much as possible for those holiday meals. If you’re not sure what is in the recipe, make your best guess, and overestimate on your BITES/calories if needed.
  • Support System: Do lean on your Healthi squad for support. Share your goals, victories, and challenges. They’re your holiday superheroes!
  • Move, Groove, Celebrate: Do incorporate festive workouts into your routine. Dance to holiday tunes, take winter walks with the family, and make movement a celebration.
  • Reflect and Set Intentions: Do take time to reflect on your wellness journey. Celebrate your achievements and set positive intentions for the upcoming year.

Remember, it’s about finding balance, celebrating victories, and enjoying the holiday season while staying true to your personal goals. Use this time for what it is– a chance to celebrate with those near and dear to you. Make this time as stress-free as possible by planning ahead and leaning on your biggest supporters. Cheers to a Healthi and happy holiday journey!
