Today, I’ll be chatting with Community Coach Courtney!

First, please introduce yourself! Tell us a little bit about you and the Healthi plan you chose.

Courtney: I am Courtney and I am married to my amazing husband, Chris. We have a three year old that definitely keeps us on our toes. I am a preschool teacher, and love what I do. I am on the Better Balance plan!

What motivated you to start your weight loss journey?

Courtney: I started wanting to lose weight because we wanted to have a baby and I was told losing weight would help it to happen faster. I lost about 50 pounds and ended up getting pregnant. Then I sadly gained it all back, and then some. After my little girl was a few months old, I decided something needed to change, and I knew I needed to start my weight loss journey back because I want to live long and be healthy for her. I want to be able to chase her around without getting winded.

How do you stay motivated to continue your weight loss journey?

Courtney: I am not always motivated. When I lose that motivation, I depend on the habits I have formed to help me be consistent, and get that motivation back. When I’m not motivated, consistency helps me push through.

Have you tried losing weight before? If so, what worked for you and what didn’t work?

Courtney: I have tried many times, and failed. I tried the extreme diets where I cut things out that were “bad” and then I ended up quitting after a couple months. Now that I found Healthi, I’ve been on my journey for almost 3 years and haven’t stopped. It’s a lifestyle now.

What are your favorite healthy foods, and how do you incorporate them into your diet?

Courtney: My favorite healthier foods are definitely lean meats. Chicken breasts and shrimp are two of my favorites. I have one of them most nights for dinner. I love how versatile they are. One night I can have a chicken wrap, the next chicken salad, and the next just some grilled chicken. It never gets boring because of how versatile it is.

Have you incorporated exercise into your weight loss plan? If so, what types of exercise do you enjoy?

Courtney: I love strength training. It helps me feel strong, which I have never felt. I love watching my body transform. I found my first muscle a few weeks ago and it made me so happy! I’ve never felt any muscles under the fat.

What do you think are the biggest obstacles to losing weight, and how do you plan to overcome them?

Courtney: The time it takes. Sometimes knowing it will take a year to get to my goals, it is a little frustrating. I want it now. But I know if I keep pushing, one day I will get there. I’m closer today than I was yesterday and tomorrow I will be even closer.

How do you plan to maintain your weight loss once you reach your goal?

Courtney: I don’t plan on changing too much. I plan to still exercise and eat a lot of the same healthier foods I eat now. But I plan to up the healthier fats and carbs a little bit, to make sure I’m not eating too few calories once I get to the point where I’m maintaining.

What’s your favorite motivational quote or saying that helps you stay on track with your weight loss goals?

Courtney: “It’s ok to struggle but it’s not ok to give up on yourself.”

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only eat one type of food, what would it be and why?

Courtney: Cheese!! I could never live without cheese, and if I could only have one food it would definitely be cheese!

If you had to eat the same breakfast every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Courtney: Pancakes! I’m obsessed with pancakes and could eat them every day! Especially pancakes from ihop! SO good!

Wonderful advice, Courtney, especially about the obstacles and the time it can take to reach your goals! Thanks for interviewing with me!
