Today I want to talk about salads. Yep.. I’m serious! I feel as though there is this certain stigma around salads as the “ultimate boring weight loss food.” That can be true… but also not.
You see, there are SO many different ways you can make a salad. I know they can seem boring, bland, not filling. You may also be thinking— “Are they even worth it?” They can add up in BITES like you wouldn’t believe [cue the ranch, cheese, fried chicken and croutons.] That answer is for you to decide. Salads do not have to be boring or bland. They can definitely fill you up. They also don’t HAVE to be low in BITES either. A salad can be high in BITES but filled with tons of nutritious and delicious food. It’s all about how you make it. Literally!
I love a good, full, hearty salad that is filled with all the veggies and fruits. Add in some protein and even whole grains if you want. I don’t necessarily worry about how many BITES it’s going to cost me (within reason) when I know I’m filling it with all the good stuff. I wanted to share some of my most favorite combinations that will definitely help fill you up AND get those healthy checks in.
BITE values will vary based on the plan you’re on and how much of each ingredient you use. These are just examples of some of my favorites!
